JCM Manufactures Pinion Shaft Assemblies

JC Machine is proud to have manufactured four pinion shaft assemblies rank among the largest in the world. Each assembly started by machining a shaft forging that weighed over 25 tons. After rough machining, the shaft was moved to a gear hobber where the teeth were cut. Next, the shaft was reinstalled in the lathe for fine machining. After assembly and testing, personnel from JC Machine oversaw the installation and alignment of the assembly on the bascule bridge. See video for sequence of machining.
